OVERALL AIM: Each vocational subject is personalised, structured and organised to ensure that all students make sustained progress. Vocational courses are designed to help young people learn in a practical way about a specific job area – helping them to gain the skills needed to start a job, progress in a career or access higher levels of education.

We strive to develop individuals’ confidence in these areas in order to increase employability and equip students with the skills they need to be successful in post-16 education and beyond.

SOCIAL: The variety and breadth of topics covered in the vocational subjects will be used to promote meaningful discussions. This will contribute to improving the social, emotional and mental health of our students and enable them to foster good personal and professional relationships in future. Through a variety of teaching approaches students have the opportunity to work collaboratively in pairs or as part of a wider team to discuss, problem solve or create products or services. Emphasis is placed on how to communicate professionally, effectively and appropriately through their written and spoken communication.

INNER: To give students confidence, resilience and self – belief to enable them to thrive. We aim for students to gain real-life experiences through the study of a variety of vocational courses which will equip and prepare them effectively to be successful in post-16 education and beyond.

ACADEMIC: To equip students with hands-on skills with a strong emphasis on real-world application for a variety of career opportunities. We aim to provide industry-specific knowledge, practical experience and a head start in the job market. We aim to offer a variety of vocational courses which are flexible, offer different levels of qualification, allowing students to enter the job market sooner or progress to Higher Education.
