Overall Aim: The study of Design and Technology provides pupils with the opportunity to enjoy and realise success through the expression of creative, practical, technical and artistic skills. It is our aim, by encouraging creativity, fuelling pupils’ imagination and supporting diversity for pupils to be inspired to innovate, problem solve and be motivated, independent learners. An understanding of the environmental impact of technology and global economies reinforces this understanding in a modern and progressive context.

Our ambition is to provide opportunities to develop pupils’ capability and creativity skills with the aim of promoting independent thought and ultimately learning. Pupils are encouraged to take creative risks and therefore become more resourceful, innovative, enterprising and capable individuals. By combining their knowledge with their designing and making skills, pupils create high quality products. They design and manufacture products that solve genuine, relevant problems within a variety of contexts whilst considering their own and others’ needs and values.
